I decided to learn more from www.pokerstrategy.com, so I joined this web sites in order to have full access to its guides. The first page after I joined was about a quiz that, if I pass it, I will receive a bonus of $50 to play on one of the poker rooms selected by them.
After I red the introductive lessons I passed the test, and a message told me that I earned the $50.
But now starts the my strange and unreasonable experience with Poker Strategy: in order to receive this bonus, I had to send them a scanned ID with my address, my age, name, and my photo on it.
Because they specify that the driver license is ok, I sent them a scanned copy of my driver license. The answer was: "Unfortunately, the photos you have sent us could not be validated successfully. In order for us to confirm that you used your real name to register, please send us an additional photo of you holding your ID next to your face."
This answer seems to me unreasonable because:
1. The promise of $50 do not specify that I have to send, after, a lot of documents to prove my identity
2. It is my interest to send my real identity because, if I earn money on the online poker room that I join with this promotional code, they need my real identity in order for me to receive the earned money.
3. What to do with a clearer image of mine on the documents (even if the scanned document has 100 px in resolution, usually enough for this kind of check): as long as they never saw me, how can they compare the image on my documents to check if it is the same person with me?
4. Eventually they can ask for a better resolution, but why a new ID doc, if they specify in the beginning that it is enough a single document that shows the name, address, my image, and my age?
So I resent same document, the driver license, but now with a better resolution, 200 px.
Their final answer after this was: "We are sorry to inform you that your user account did not pass our ID check and we therefore cannot transfer the $50 starting capital to your account... Unfortunately, these rules still apply in the event that we have made an incorrect decision."
A short experience. As they specify, I can go on to be a member of pokerstrategy.com but, from my point of view, I cannot trust someone that acts this way, even if I appreciate their lessons.
